“Are you a Kind Person?”

Most people think they are. Hi, this is Jeanie. Let’s talk about kindness. First of all, I think the number one rule of kindness that everyone should be aware of is that being kind is doing something for someone and expecting nothing in return. It’s nice to say that there are people among us who are kind and are doing just that. But just as a reminder, when you do something kind, you should expect nothing in return. Nothing! It should always come directly from your heart. So let’s think about some of the acts of kindness that you can do because almost everyone says the world needs more kindness. It only takes a minute or two, but it is truly worth every second.

Luckily, there is some kindness in the world, but we can always use more. Any of you on social media might occasionally post a story about kindness, or you may have seen a story posted about kindness, or you might read a story that might give you some nice ideas as well. I’m going to give you some easy ideas.

If you find yourself thinking, “I’ll be kind, but I don’t really know where to begin,” think about what you can do to let someone in your life know that you really appreciate them. Kindness will make your life better. Let’s talk about it. Yes, kindness begins at home. For example, your wife/husband/partner always does the wash. Write a note on a large piece of paper and attach it to the hanger, so your partner will come across it while putting clean clothes away. The note could say “thank you for being you and for taking such good care of me.” Do the same thing when you know the garbage is full, and your partner is going to take it out. Tape a note to the can or bag that says, “thank you for always taking out the garbage. I really appreciate you!”

Practice kindness this month. Smile or say hello to every stranger you see. If you pass a person walking with a cane or in a wheelchair, be sure to stop and say ‘hello’ with a big smile. Another idea is to make a contribution, if you can afford it, to Saint Jude or Shriners to help children, to your favorite charity, or other organization of your choice. If one or both of you can afford to give $19 a month, you can have it deducted from your account. CAUTION! Be sure that the entity you are supporting is authentic, as many of them take most of the money, and very little actually goes to the people in need.

Putting more kindness in the world is really important, and everyone has the tools to do it. I believe that if you think something nice about someone, you should tell them and not keep it to yourself. If they look nice, tell them, and perhaps you’ve put a little bit of kindness into the world and in their life as well. We never know what is going on in the lives of others. A few kind words can make a big difference in their lives.

If you have an idea regarding kindness, please write to us and tell us about it. If it’s something unusual that we really like, it will definitely be printed on our site, Outrageous Thinking, and we will credit you with the post or post it anonymously if you wish. Thank you all for reading about kindness, and we will see you next month with more ideas. Remember we all need kindness, BUT WAIT! Before you go, I have one more thought to share with you. Perhaps the most important one! The greatest beneficiary of your kindness to another person is YOU! Yes, even if your smile or hello is met with rudeness, you’ll see that you will feel better for having given it. So try it for yourself, friend. My bet is that no matter the outcome, you’ll be glad you did! Always remember, when it comes it comes to kindness, the more we give, the more we get!

ETERNAL MELODY

There is a silence within you
a silence housing a thunderous voice
a peaceful earthquake of your awakening
the orgasm of your creation
your very own unbearable lightness of being
all this awaits you – go there!
There is a silence within you
a silence emanating from an eternal melody
calling you to come, awaiting your return.
Go there
this is what you are
this is who you are!
The alpha omega singularity of your existence
something you have always known
the familiarity of your selfhood
that life force of your DNA and Soul
that place where nothing else intrudes

your home of comfort, the oasis you never left.
Let the longing within you be done with
allow yourself the freedom to arrive
here the merry-go-round and roller coaster finally cease
the grail you’ve always searched for
that diamond ring, that lottery ticket, your very own resurrection
all awaiting your acceptance of the silence within you!
Here the space between illusion and reality is buttoned
the gap between darkness and light is sparked
the place between the inhale and exhale is filled.
Go there now.
Go to the silence within you.
Limitless wealth and unimaginable love await your acceptance.
This is the promise of your birthright.
This is the dream you fully deserve.
