Hi, I’m Jeannie, and I am going to share with you some easy, basic beauty tips for the month. These tips include ways Q-tips can enhance eye makeup, the use of Vaseline on eyelashes, how lipstick can and will last for many hours, and how we should be using perfume.

Let us begin:

1. We always need Q-tips in our Beauty Kit. Q-tips are great to use with any makeup that can smudge. It’s an easy way to clean the smudge. For example, many of us try our best to apply mascara on both our top and bottom lashes. It is not so easy to get it on perfectly. The same goes for eyeliner, also used on the top and bottom of our eyelids. When a smudge occurs, it is best not to wait until the mascara or eyeliner has dried. As soon as you see the smudge, take a Q-tip and try twisting the tip on the smudge. You can find Q-tips that come with one end pointed (and the other end flat) which makes it much easier to remove any little spot that you might have missed. These specialty Q-tips can be purchased at stores that sell beauty supplies.
2. For thicker, longer-looking eyelashes, apply a primer before mascara. Lash primers usually come in mascara-like tubes, are often white when applied, and include a brush for easy application. Apply the primer to your lashes, wait 2-3 minutes, and then add mascara. My favorite is Essence primer, but you can find many options at beauty supply stores and other retailers that sell beauty products.
3. Most women enjoy wearing lipstick, maybe not all the time, but most of the time. Did you know women started wearing lipstick around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia by crushing gemstones, red berries, and insects to stain their lips? In ancient Egypt, the men and women both wore lipstick. The color a woman wore indicated her social rank, her marital status, and even her sexual availability. Some believe the Pharaoh’s concubine, an elite group of women, who gave the Pharaoh fellatio, wore lipstick to show off their elite status. The use of lipstick represented women of high social status. Today, women are facing the issue of keeping lipstick on for long lengths of time, including after eating. There are many brands with different effects: whether a woman wants shiny; matte finish; much color or just a touch. There are many brands of lipstick that claim to last 12 hours or longer. I have used Maybelline’s Super Stay, which does last and last.
4. Most of us like to smell good and use perfume to enhance our smell. One of my favorite things to use is perfume. I have found that using two sprays or two drops of perfume on the crease of your inner arm is most effective. Then, immediately tap your finger to it and apply the perfume on your finger behind your ears. This is usually enough perfume for both ears. Being aware of where you will be going is advised. For example, if you are going to a doctor’s appointment, you may want to use less perfume because you will probably be in a confined space.
