The ‘Energy Construct’

Years ago in my book, ‘Empowering Children for Success,’ I coined the term, ‘Energy Construct.’

Before all the latest miraculous research by DNA scientists and infant care specialists was uncovered, newborns were believed to be born ‘tabula rasa,’ a Latin term meaning ‘clean slate,’ or a brain with no impressions or knowledge whatsoever, like a chalkboard with no writing on it.

So, what is this ‘Energy Construct?’ Well, Moses had it; Jesus had it; Michelangelo had it; da Vinci had it; Dante had it; Einstein, Hemingway, Proust, Joyce, and indeed EVERYONE ever born has it. Yes, my friend, YOU also have it.

How can you uncover yours and your child’s ‘Energy Construct?’ Simply ask your child and yourself what you loved and were most attracted to between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. Do not intellectualize; let your emotions and intuition guide you.

Let freedom, not any current obligations or worries or fears you have in your adult mind, ruin this exercise in joy and freedom for now and for your future. You and those you love deserve it, for this was and is your purpose in life. Age does not matter here. Time does not matter here. Health and wealth do not matter here either.

ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT YOU EMBRACE IT IN SOME WAY RIGHT NOW!

What was it that you wanted to be with all your heart, soul, and mind? What did God and/or nature conceive you to be before, as Alice Miller warned us of, our parents, educators, and media told us what we should or could become.

There is no, NO here, no matter what your age is right now. Let us say you are in your thirties, raising a family with a good paying job that you like, but you now realize what your ‘Energy Construct’ was when you were young. Financially and socially, it does not work for you and your wife/partner right now, but over the next few years you can study part-time online to become a physician’s assistant in the future.

Are you old or disabled? Make your ‘Energy Construct’ your hobby. If it is gardening, study indoor gardening. Read books. Utilize the Internet. Hire an assistant if you can afford it.

Think of Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest physicists of the last century. He discovered Black Holes; wrote a bestseller that sold millions; was married twice, had children, and was completely paralyzed. And Helen Keller, who was deaf, dumb, and blind, learned to communicate in Braille in five different languages. And what about Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who became President with absolutely no use of his legs. They ALL followed their ‘Energy Construct!’

Moses did and led the Jews to Freedom! Jesus did and changed the world forever. Washington did and created our nation. Lincoln did and preserved our union and emancipated the slaves. Frederick Douglass went from being born a slave to renowned speaker and author of books and newspapers. He did it!! Martin Luther King and President Kennedy did it! Charlie Kirk did it for the youth of our country.

Yes, they did it! We can do it too for the joy and success of ourselves and those we love!

Is your child having trouble in school? Let us say she wants to become a pilot or an astronaut. You and her teacher can help her in Language Arts, Math, and Science with library books, films and CDs about pilots and astronauts by giving her homework and class assignments on what her ‘Energy Construct’ is. This will make her learning relevant and enjoyable, which will make it easier for you and her teacher.
